About the campaign

In FY2023-24, we identified and took a group of six local entrepreneurs through two stages of our SLIC education: 1. introduction to the principles of economic life, and  2—Gaelle Chanson's 32 Pieces of Advice for Better Managing Resources. Due to a lack of time and resources, we could not take the group through all the program’s phases. In FY 2024-25, we will take these entrepreneurs through all the stages of our program: 3. basic accounting, 4. studying practical business ideas for sub-Saharan Africa, 5. choosing a business idea, 6. designing an entrepreneurial business, 7. raising funds, 8. one-on-one coaching.

The program's beneficiaries will grow in character, and we will also equip them with skills they can use to gain or create decent employment right in place. We hope that beneficiaries from this new program will impact other youth as they have been affected.

We are seeking $10,000 as seed funds for our six 2024-25 SLIC participants. These funds will be directly allocated to our participants' projects, enabling them to bring their entrepreneurial ideas to life. We already have funding from other donors to administer this program and carry out its activities. The following are our 2024-25 SLIC participants:

  • Green Guinea is a social enterprise contributing to the fight against global warming, reducing air pollution, and increasing the value of the Republic of Guinea as a tourist attraction through plastic and metal waste recycling in the Republic of Guinea.
  • Faale Baba (What My Father Would Like) is a private multi-service company that promotes sustainability in house and other building construction—the business advocates using metal house frames to reduce excessive wood cutting.
  • Three farmers from a minority community that seek to improve their yield by equipping themselves with tools and good farming practices.
  • Menga Poultry seeks to improve youth employment and nutrition by creating employment for ten youths and producing 10000 eggs per month in Dalaba before 2026.
