Leadership Conference - The Identity of the Leader
At the end of Round 4 of the English program, the English students, their teachers and three guest speakers participated in a 2-day Jeune Espoir leadership conference which climaxed with the awarding of certificates and diplomas. (See photos and video.) The theme of the conference was what makes a good leader, a leader of integrity, and what is true leadership. Speakers made the point that being educated and having good skills do not automatically make a good leader. Guinea needs leaders with integrity and with a spirit of servant leadership, leaders who want the best for those they lead rather than self-aggrandizement. The upper level English students also performed a dramatic sketch, the project-based learning referred to in the report. (See video.) Finally, they received their certificates and celebrated by taking pictures of themselves with their teachers.
