English, DIGITAL LITERACY, AND INTERCULTURAL SKILLS (EDLIS)

Teaching EDLIS was one of our first projects. When our founders began managing Centre Espoir in Dalaba, Guinea, as volunteers in 2008, they taught English and computers. They held leadership workshops to ensure that more young people from rural Guinea are equipped with the necessary skills to participate effectively in the global digital economy. From 2008 to 2014, as they hosted about 60 people who came daily to the center, the volunteers developed a language lab room and deployed a virtual computer room.  When we became Jeune Espoir in 2014, we continued the  EDLIS training at Centre Espoir through grants from the U.S. Embassy in Guinea, Resonate Global Mission, and individual donors.

We have qualified English and Digital Literacy teachers with U.S cultural exchange experience. We also have a bank of EDLIS training resources we have gathered and developed over the years. We constantly seek to partner with individuals and institutions to ensure that more underprivileged youth, especially those from rural cities, have equal access to education.

Four College North America Students at Centre Espoir

Four college students from North America led a 6-week program at Centre Espoir involving 15 Guinean youth chosen after application to participate. They learned computer skills and English, studied and debated issues of the day, did community service, and visited NGOs and private enterprises in the area to see what they were doing to contribute to the community.

2002 - 2006

EDLIS Classes at Centre Espoir by the RGM Team

Resonate Global Missions missionaries were the first to teach English and computers. They also ran youth development activities to ensure that youth turned away from drugs or didn't fall into drugs and found meaning in their lives. Most of the founders of Jeune Espoir benefited from these activities.
